The Election!
The election is in TEN Tuesdays, a little over 9 weeks away. Can you commit to doing 10 concrete actions between now and the election to stand up for the LGBTQ+ folks in your life? Spread them out however you like, just do at least 10 things.
What can I do?
There are many concrete ways to help candidates, including door knocking, phone or text banking, donating money, attending events or debates, submitting a letter to the editor, writing postcards to voters, etc. The first time you do some of these things, it might be nerve wracking. Please know that if you show up and tell whoever is in charge that you are new, they will get you started! Remember, if your legislative district is not up for election (only odd #s this year), or if there are no LGBTQ+ supportive candidates in your district, your help is definitely needed in another nearby district!
How can I get involved?
To get involved, you can reach out to particular candidates directly, or you can attend a party or other group’s action nights. These action nights usually have work to do for a number of candidates. You can also sometimes grab postcards to take home and do on your own time.
Action nights
These are the scheduled weekly action nights we know about. If you know of others not mentioned here, please email or message us on facebook! Ideally, we want to amplify events all over the state and not just Omaha and Lincoln. Drop in to any of these:

Supportive candidate list
If you would rather support a particular candidate(s) directly, please do that!
Start by checking out their websites and social media for ways to help. On social media, find and follow all the candidates you support. Then like, comment, and share their content so that their posts are seen by more people.
Rainbow Parents has been busy contacting candidates and putting together a list of candidates who are supportive of LGBTQ folks, with links to their websites and their responses to our questions. We will add this information to our website this week, so check back!
The list below is partial at this point, based only on who has already gotten back to us, but these are the current legislative candidates we feel will support LGBTQ+ youth:
