Welcome to

Rainbow Parents of Nebraska!

Welcome to Week Two of the Rainbow Parents newsletter. Last week, you either registered to vote or confirmed your registration, and then bugged all of your friends and family who will be 18 by November 4th to do the same.

If you are new and missed last week, please visit our website for week one actions.

You are receiving this email because you gave us your information through our QR code or by going to our website.

Thanks for wanting to be more involved to protect the queer kid(s) in your life.

Weekly action items!

This is your homework to do in the next week.

This week, it’s a two part action:

  1. Find your district and your state senator

On the official website of the Nebraska Unicameral, you can enter your street address and zip code to find out your current Nebraska State Senator and your district number. Under your senator’s picture, click on “landing page” to get their bio and full contact information. This is also a handy tool to have on hand to help your friends and family find their senators, as well.

  1. Save your state senator’s contact information

Right now, before you forget, put your Nebraska senator’s name, phone number, and email address in your phone (or wherever you keep your important phone numbers). For a bonus action, bookmark the legislature’s website or paste the link in your contacts or your notes app or somewhere else that is easy to access. Bug the members of your household to do the same.

That’s it for week two!

Don’t forget, you can find our previous email action items here: https://www.rainbowparentsofne.org/blog

Queer Joy in the Aftermath of Pride

“Free stuff!”

–Sentiment and photo submitted by a transgender 12 year old

Queer Joy

As ironic as it is my queer joy stems from

pride. I feel joy every time I see our

community band together and support

each other, I feel joy when the people I love

express themselves as they are without

fear and I feel joy from the pride I get from

thinking about the progress we fought to

obtain and the fight we give to keep it.

We’ve done a lot in 39 years and we’re

not stopping now.
